The Coin Collection

The Greek coin collection consists of coins from the earliest coins coined in east-Greek city-states in what is present-day Turkey to coins from the Hellenistic kingdoms where portraying the ruler on coins becomes the standard. Athens’s owl coins have experienced a renaissance on the new Greek 1 and 2 € coins.

The Roman coin collection consists of coins from the Republic where the earliest would best be described as lumps of metal to the late-antique coins coined by the Emperor Constantine.

Unfortunately, Antikmuseet’s coin database is currently out of order but for more information please contact Vinnie Nørskov.
